Weisenburger Katie - User Interface - REDO

Here is the redo for my user interface. The overall changes I made were done in order to make the website more professional and organized. I reorganized the second half of the photo section and went over the text sections avoiding the widows and long lines of texts. Eventually I might want to add more illustrations to the site but for now I think it works. I might need to make the site longer once I get more work as well.

I found a really helpful link right on the Adobe site with hints on how to add interactivity within your tablet design. Everyone should check it out.

Everyone should read the article that I found at this site. It is about how the iPad has changed the magazine. It really gave me a few hints on how to create a successful magazine article that is built specifically for a tablet. It was very interesting learning how the iPad has changed the magazine as well.

For the tablet project, I’ve been having more trouble on finding ways to make my story interactive to the reader while having it relevant to the article. For example this tablet magazine design I found, there’s definitely different ways you could make it interactive. But for other ideas, like the use of celebrities, that’s where it becomes a little tricky. I’m trying to find different ways to make my tablet design interactive, but I definitely will have to do more research.

When I saw the cover of this magazine it made me think of when Professor Harper talked about connecting typeface to some other aspect of the picture. For example, the black and white stripes on the girl’s shirt are reflected in the black and white colored letters for the title. The designer also kept it pretty simple.

When I say the design on this magazine cover I was so intrigued. The cover is advertising Barcelona and so I thought it was really cool when the designer used an actual map of Barcelona and used it to create part of the headline. It’s a really clean yet innovative design. I really like magazine covers that are able to incorporate the story that they are about to tell into the header. It’s a simple way of designing things. I also liked how the designer used minimal color so that it wasn’t all over the place. They stuck to black and whites and a blue.

User Interface Final

Weisenburger Katie - User Interface - FINAL

Here is the PNG of my final website design for the User Interface Project. I wanted something clean and organized, so that the visitors to my portfolio site would have an easy time navigating throughout the site. The fonts that I used included Penelope Anne, and Geosans Light. My titles were written with Penelope Anne, in size 48-60. My main text was written with Geosans Light, size 30. All font sizes were done in order to make them readable to the viewer. A lot of my inspiration came form Professor Harper’s links on Pinterest. I really liked, the site of a graphic designer. I also drew a lot of advice from, which already had a lot of organized and clean layouts for professional photographers and designers. I hope that viewers visit my site they see a professional, and organized designer.

I really liked this website when I saw it. The design is simple. Just like Professor Harper said in class today, I can immediately tell what this website is for- design and architecture. I also like the layout and the use of the overall page. This particular designer used one page to design their website and portray their work.
