Extra Credit Opertunities

You have the option of turing-in extra credit work to help you learn more about storytelling and in turn, increase your grade. Any extra credit needs to be submitted to the class server in the Extra Credit folder and labeled with your name and nature of the extra credit. Two extra credit assignments allowed.

  • Maximum of two
  • Book Review: 50 pts max
  • Film Critique: 25 pts max
  • Acting Out a Scene:  20 pts max
  • Must be place on class server inside the “Extra Credit” folder, properly named


Book Review – A Million Miles and A Thousand Years

This book changed the way I think about my life and as a part of it, storytelling. Write a 5 page review of this book and receive up to 50 points towards your final grade.


  • At least five pages in length, double spaced 10pt type.
  • Include an overall summary
  • Include what you learned about storytelling
  • Include how it may have altered the way think or see storytelling/life
  • Must be placed on class server in the ‘Extra Credit” folder

Film Critique

Watch one of the follow films and provide a written review and analysis of the story structure and one example of sequencing. You can only submit one and can add up to 25 points to your final grade.


  • Written review, 1 page minimum
  • Analysis of story structure, use of audio and video techniques
  • Example of at least one sequence used in film
  • It must be either a word doc or PDF file.
  • Place it on the class server in the folder marked “Extra Credit”

Live Skit

Pick one theme from any of the above films and act out the entire story in no more than five minutes, emphasizing that theme. These skits will be hilarious from our perspective. You can do this by yourself or in a group of no more than five people.
